MSMC Downs Purchase, 71-57

Purchase, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College scored seventeen of the first twenty points on Saturday and cruised to a victory over Skyline foe, Purchase College, 71-57. Junior Alex Kuchar (Rutherford, N.J.) scored a team-high 19 points, marking the third game in a row that he has led the team in scoring. The Blue Knights move to 5-3 overall and into a tie for third in the Skyline Conference with a record of 3-1. Purchase is now 1-6 overall and tied for eighth in the conference at 0-3.

Purchase closed the gap during a 9-0 run that carried over from the first half to the second half. Freshman Tyriq Harrington (Queens, N.Y.) capped the run with a three-pointer just after half time that brought the Panthers to within six (31-25). Senior Jason Cardez (Ridgewood, N.Y.) responded with a jumper at the other end and the Blue Knights would outscore the Panthers, 22-9, over the next seven minutes. Purchase would not get closer than the final margin of victory for the remainder of the contest.

Junior Chris Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Matt Weinberger (Washingtonville, N.Y.) were the only other Mount players in double figures, finishing the game with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Weinberger tied for the team high in rebounds with six and was matched by freshman Tim Morris (Greenwich, N.Y.).

Harrington led all scorers, pouring in 23 points for the Panthers on 7-of-21 shooting. Senior Henry Farrarin (Irvington, N.Y.) scored 15 points and pulled down 14 boards in the losing effort.

In one of their final games before the end of the semester, Mount Saint Mary College will host the Berekely College of Business on Monday, December 10. Tip-off in the Kaplan Center in scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
