Alex Kuchar (Rutherford, N.J.) scored a game-high 22 points as Mount Saint Mary College gradually pulled away from the Albany College of Pharmacy Thursday night and prevailed by a score of 91-58. The Blue Knights moved back above the five hundred mark with the win (4-3) while the Panthers dropped to 2-6.
Kuchar capped an 11-0 run midway through the first half to give the Blue Knights a 26-11 lead. It was the biggest run of the night for the Mount who led by sixteen points at the half and cruised to a thirty-three point win. Kuchar finished 7-of-14 from the field and connected on 4-of-6 triples.
Freshman Tim Morris (Greenwich, N.Y.) led three other Blue Knights in double-figures with 17 points. Morris shot 7-of-13 from the field and also grabbed 7 rebounds. Freshman Scott Henderson (Baldwin, N.Y.) scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the first double-double of his career. Senior Jason Cardez (Ridgewood, N.Y.) added 14 points for the home team.
For the visitors, senior John Adamchick (Clifton Park, N.Y.) scored a team-high 18 points and also had 8 rebounds. Junior Vartan Balian (Ontario, Canada) was the only other ACP player to reach double figures, finishing with 11 points. Junior Ramy Ramzy (Ontario, Canada) tallied 8 points and 13 rebounds.
The Blue Knights shot the ball well for most of the night, shooting 50% from the field for the first time this season. MSMC connected on 10-of-17 from behind the arc (58.8%). Albany College of Pharmacy struggled from the field, shooting only 35.7%.
Mount Saint Mary will play the third of five games during a nine day stretch this Saturday as they head to Purchase College. The game is scheduled as the first-half of a double-header beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Mount women will play following the conclusion of the men's game.
