Fifth Game Not Kind to Blue Knights Once Again

Wayne, N.J. - Playing in their fifth five-game match of the season, the Blue Knights dropped to 1-4 in such matches with a loss to William Paterson University on Thursday night. Overall, the Blue Knights are now 7-15 while the Pioneers improved to 16-5.

The Pioneers jumped out to a two games to none lead, taking the first game, 30-26, and the second, 30-18. Mount Saint Mary fought back for a hard-fought 30-28 win in game three and then forced a decisive game five with a 30-25 victory in game four. Despite leading in the fifth game, the Blue Knights lost, 17-15.

Senior Ashley Barnhart (Kingston, N.Y.) had a huge night for the Blue Knights, finishing with 19 kills and 33 digs. Sophomore Katie Toole (Wallkill, N.Y.) posted yet another double-double, tallying 46 assists to go along with 11 digs. Senior Katie Goodrich (Binghamton, N.Y.) played well defensively, racking up 26 digs. As a team, the Blue Knights finished with 115 digs, by far their highest total of the season.

After a string of non-conference matches, the Blue Knights jump back into their Skyline schedule this weekend. They travel to St. Joseph's College (LI) on Saturday, October 13 to take on St. Joe's and Farmingdale.
