Men's Soccer Still Searching for First Win After Loss to SUNY Delhi

Delhi, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Knights fell to the SUNY Delhi Broncos Wednesday evening, dropping the midweek contest 3-2.

The Basics
Score: Mount Saint Mary 2, SUNY Delhi 3
Records: Mount Saint Mary (0-4-0) | SUNY Delhi (2-1-0, 0-0-0)

In pursuit of their first win of the 2026 campaign, the Knights got off to a hot start thanks to a 10th-minute goal by sophomore Cam Welsh. Welsh, who totaled two goals last season, found the back of the net for the first time this season thanks to freshman Noah Christian's first career assist. The Knights held onto that 1-0 lead until the 27th minute, when Broncos freshman Dylan Jimenez scored his first career goal to pull SUNY Delhi level. The 1-1 tie lasted until just before the end of the first half. In the 43rd minute, Javier Sposito became the second Broncos freshman to score their first career goal during the game, burying the go-ahead goal to give SUNY Delhi a 2-1 advantage.

The second half of the match was quiet until the 81st minute, when SUNY Delhi junior David Clapper scored what would ultimately be the game's deciding goal to make it 3-1. The Knights, down a pair in the final nine minutes of regulation, did not go down quietly. In the 89th minute, Knights sophomore TJ Mark scored his second goal of the season to bring the Knights within one. The late goal was assisted by Isaiah de la Espriella, the first of his young career. Despite the late rally, it was not enough, as the Broncos outlasted the Knights for a 3-2 final score. The Knights head home for their first game at Kaplan Field since the season opener, taking on SUNY Polytechnic Institute at 12:00 pm Saturday.
