Julia Steese enters her fourth season as the head coach for the women’s lacrosse program in 2016. She also serves part-time as the Assistant Sports Information Director.
Steese led her team to another Skyline Conference Championship Tournament appearance in 2015 after the team went 5-2 once again in Skyline play. The Knights went 7-10 overall on the season after increasing the strength of its schedule. They fell to No. 2-seeded Farmingdale State College in the Skyline semifinals. Juniors Claire Duffy and Nicole Scicutella, as well as sophomore Katie Gattoni each earned spots on the Skyline Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference First Team. The three combined to set six new major single-season records, as well as four major career records.
In 2014, Steese’s second year in charge, the team finished with its second consecutive winning record at 8-7, including a program best 5-2 record in Skyline Conference play. Under Steese, the team was able to advance to the semi-finals of the Skyline Conference Tournament. Steese also coached three players named to the 2014 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse All-Conference First Team.
Steese served as the assistant coach at Norwich University in Vermont. Steese helped the Cadets to consecutive Great Northeast (GNAC) championships and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Norwich went 14-2 during the 2012 season.
As an undergraduate at Colby-Sawyer College, Steese was a three-year standout for both the lacrosse and soccer teams. Steese earned all-conference recognition for lacrosse on two occasions as served as a team captain for both the lacrosse and soccer teams as a senior.
A native of Wilmot, New Hampshire, Steese graduated from Colby-Sawyer College in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in child development. She earned her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Norwich in 2012.
