Samantha Howe begins her fifth year at the helm of the Mount Saint Mary softball program in 2022.

Over three seasons on the field and four overall as the Mount’s head coach, Howe has led the Knights to a 54-50-1 overall record and an impressive 39-13 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. Howe has mentored nine All-Conference selections, including three First Team All-League picks.

The Knights advanced to the Skyline Conference Championship Round in 2019 and after the 2020 season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Howe led the Mount to a 17-12 record (12-8 in conference) in the Mount’s first action since the conference championship round in 2019.

Howe guided the Knights to their third straight Skyline Conference crown in 2018 and posted the program's second ever win in the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 win over Immaculata. The Knights featured four All-Skyline Conference selections in 2018, including Cindy Connoly who was made a First Team pick for the fourth straight season.

Prior to her appointment as head coach, Howe has made an impact with the Knights over the previous four seasons as an assistant coach. Before joining the staff at the Mount, the team hit .273 as a unit and was an even 7-7 in conference play. The Knights completed the 2017 season, their second straight conference championship campaign, with a .318 batting average, a 1.98 earned run average and an impressive 17-1 record in league play.

Over her stint as an assistant, Howe has helped mentor three-time Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Year, Cindy Connoly. Connoly holds the single season and career records at the Mount in strikeouts and is a two-time NFCA Second Team All-Region selection.

Said Howe, "I would like to wish Coach Mushel luck in her new position as Athletic Director and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to build a strong, competitive softball program.  I am excited take on this new challenge here at Mount Saint Mary College."

In addition with her work with the Knights, Howe has also served as an instructor with Extra Innings in Wappingers since 2009 and held the post of Head Junior Varsity Coach at John Jay High School-East Fishkill in 2013.
