Regina Ammirati joins the Mount Saint Mary College softball team for her second season as an assistant coach in 2010. Ammirati played for the Blue Knights for four years (2005-08).
A four-year starter for the Mount, Ammirati played in 110 games while making 107 starts. She served as a team captain for the Blue Knights in 2007 and 2008 and had her best season as a senior, hitting .264 at the plate with a slugging percentage of .361 and an on-base percentage of .340. For her career, Ammirati tallied 56 hits, 50 runs scored, and 27 runs batted in. A versatile defensive player, Ammirati played six different positions during her collegiate career.
Ammirati graduated from the Mount in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in English and also earned her certification for secondary/special education. She is currently teaching special education at Warwick Valley High School in Warwick, N.Y.
Originally from North Babylon, New York, Ammirati currently resides in Chester, New York.
