Following a four year playing career, Katie Mayer joins the Mount Saint Mary College softball team as an assistant coach for the first time in 2009. Mayer played for the Blue Knights from 2004 to 2007.
Mayer played in 126 career games and made 124 starts. Along with a career batting average of .294, Mayer is one of only a handful of players to reach 100 hits in a career, finishing with 102. Mayer holds a career slugging percentage of .441 and maintains the school record for career home runs with 10. During the 2007 season, Mayer was named to the Skyline Conference first team in the outfield.
Also a four-year member of the women's volleyball team at Mount Saint Mary College, Mayer holds the school records for blocks in a season (80) and career blocks (192). While playing in 355 career games, Mayer racked up 595 kills and 305 digs.
Mayer graduated from the Mount in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics while also earning certification in elementary education.
A native of Wappingers Falls, New York, Mayer currently resides in Newburgh, New York.
