Gary Trapani joins the Mount Saint Mary College track and field staff for the 2012-13 season.
Trapani, a sixth grade teacher at Marlboro Middle School, has been the assistant varsity track and field coach at Marlboro for 11 years. In addition to coaching a pair of state champions in the high jump, Trapani has coached multiple MHAL and Section IX champions. He has also coached JV basketball for nine years and is currently the head coach for modified cross country.
A standout athlete in his own right, Trapani was the New York State champion in the high jump for 1995. He went on to compete at the University of Rhode Island where he was a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team.
Trapani completed a bachelor's degreee in business at URI in 1999 and has since earned a certificate in elementary education from Marist in 2002 and a master's degree in special education from CCNY in 2005.
Trapani lives in Newburgh with his wife, Theresa, and their two daughters, Taylor and Alexa.
