Personal: Son of Igor Makarenko and Mariola Gurba-Makarenko. Brother of Sava Makarenko and Thomas Gurba.
Before Mount Saint Mary: Was captain of the Yorktown High School Varsity golf team for two years. Earned high honor roll during his junior and senior years.
