Since Coach Kevin Longacre's appointment in 2011, 11 players have been named to the Skyline Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team ; six to the first team, and five to the second team. Three players have earned a spot on the ECAC Metro All-Star first team. One player has been named Skyline Conference Player of the Year under Longacre, while Longacre has won Skyline Coach of the year in 2012, and 2014.In 2010, the year before Longacre was hired as head coach, the Knights recorded a 2-13-2 overall record, scoring 17 goals, with a 2-6-2 Skyline Conference record. In his first year as head coach, the Knights totaled an 8-10-1 overall record, and were able to reach the Skyline Conference Semi-final game, scoring an improved 29 goals on the season. In 2012, the team made program history under Longacre by reaching the conference finals for the first time. They recorded 36 goals, with a 6-2-1 conference record.
In 2013, the Knight’s continued their progress under Longacre, winning the Skyline Conference Championship scoring a record 63 goals on the season. They reached a ranking of ninth in the region, and made their first NCAA tournament appearance, losing a close first-round game to No. 7 York College 1-0 in double overtime. In 2014 the Knights most recently made program history by winning their first regular season title.
The Knights have recorded impressive results since 2011, including a convincing 3-0 win over Vassar College in 2013; their first victory over the Brewers since 1986.
10 Individual program records have been set under Longacre, including the single season goals, points and assists records. Also, two single season team records have been set; shut-outs and goals scored.
Four Knights were interviewed and asked to describe their experiences with the soccer team, and how being a part of the program has benefitted them.
Austin Peluso is a goalkeeper who most recently transferred from Endicott College, where he boasted a 1.09 goals against average. Ivan Dorador is a two year member of the Knights, and plays an integral role in the center of the midfield.Tyler Biscone is a goalkeeper who played a part in the Kngiht's 2013 conference championship, recording a 7-1 victory in the quarterfinals against St. Joseph's College. Jay Marchese is a freshman central defender who believes being a part of the program has helped him adjust to college life, and hopes to earn a starting spot next season.
