Kings Point, N.Y. — Knights Swimming closed out their regular season last night against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. It was a hard-fought battle, but ultimately ended in a loss for the Knights.
Women's Recap
Grace MacHugh (Newburgh, N.Y.) made a splash last night, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:08.18, taking home the sole individual win for the Knights. She also scored a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, at a 2:32.16.
Kitty Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) had two runner-up swims, in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.83) and the 100-yard breastroke, coming in at 1:13.44.
Stefanie Sommer (Warwick, NY) also had two second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:26.77) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.66).
Emily Gursky (Oakville, Conn.) finished second in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:11.44.
Men's Recap
The Knights men had several runner-up finishes throughout the meet against the Mariners.
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) swam to second place in the 200-yard freestyle at a 2:05.18, the 100-yard butterfly (59.86) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:07.19).
Michael D'Ambrosio (Staten Island, NY) picked up two second-place swims, in the 50-yard freestyle (25.13) and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.48.
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) also earned himself a runner-up swim, in the 200-yard individual medley at a 2:33.82.
Looking ahead, the Knights will get ready to compete at the Skyline Conference Championship, which will take place on Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 at SUNY Purchase.
