Senk and Zamudio Lead Their Teams at the MSMC Skyline Invitational

| By:
Newburgh, NY- What a perfect fall day for the Mount Saint Mary College Skyline Conference Invitational.  The wind was blowing the air was crisp, and the teams came out ready to play today.  This was a combined invitational, hosting both men and women from seven different schools.

The 4 women from the mount were only able to get 9 holes in each during the invitational.  Coming in with the teams lowest score was Riley Senk, shooting an impressive 57.  Followed by her teammates Liz Petrellese, and Ella Garner both of whom shot a 59.  Izzy Spignardo rounded out the foursomes score with a 60.  Their combined team score was enough to earn a team win for the invitational.

The Men from the Mount played the full 18 holes today and their top four shooters combined for a team score of 316, which put them in a final position of second place for the invitational.  Tyler Zamudio had the team's lowest finish with a 78, followed by John Del Bene and Jonathan Kara who each shot a 79.  Matt Ropiak finish fourth for team with an 80, and Gabe Hill came in 5th with an 83.

Coach Andy Crane said after the tournament "Great effort from our guys today. I'm so pleased with our effort from top to bottom in very tough windy conditions.  This is a great way to open our conference schedule.  So happy to start the season off with a win and a solid 2nd place finish, just hope we can keep the momentum going"

He then followed this statement up with "This was really a team finish.  Johnny and Trevor were solid all day.  Ropes and JK never gave up and continued to grind even when things were starting to go sideways and turned in good scores.  The guys know I am the hardest person to please and will always remind them of the work we need to do but I will admit, I'm pretty pleased with this result"

Both teams will be traveling to SUNY Cobleskill this Sunday for a head to head match at noon.
