Box Score Newburgh, NY- After the original match was postponed, today's makeup was the Knights first home match of the season. Taking on the Maccabees from Yeshiva University, the Mount Saint Mary Knights and fans were excited that the weather was finally cooperating.
While the doubles matches didn't go the way of the home team, they proved to be a great way to get the team ready for their singles matches. Dropping all three singles matches to a strong Yeshiva team.
Carly Green was on the main court and jumped out to a big lead in the first set, winning 6-1. The second set was a nail-biter, going to an even 6-6. Green, however, stayed composed and was able to win the tiebreaker 9-7, taking down the Yeshiva team's number one player.
"The women went out and started slow in doubles but I was proud of how they regrouped and rallied back in singles. Though we lost, there are a lot of positives that came out of today and
Carly Green stepped up for us at number one singles and won her first ever match at that spot. Looking forward to getting another chance to improve on Friday against sage." Said Coach Yancy Butler after the match.
The Knight's next match will be this Friday at home, taking on Russell Sage College at 4pm.
