Milton, NY- In the first head to head meet for the Men and Women of the Mount Saint Mary College Cross Country teams, they took on the Yeshiva University Maccabees. In a muddy sloppy course Knights ran to victory in both races.
In the first race of the day, Sophomore Sarah Kennenberg (23:56.2) got out to a hot start and never looked back. Finishing almost a full minute ahead of the next runner. Sarah was seen in full smiles through the whole race, and crossed the line and immediately went back down the course to cheer on her team.
Lily O'Brien finished third (2:23.0) and
Alyssa Milburn (27:06.9) finished fifth for the team. The MSMC team finished with a team score of 24 to Yeshiva's 40 securing the win for the team.
After the race Coach Callo said, "Sara did a great job again for us today by taking first place, Lily ran a strong race along with her teammate Alyssa, I was also impressed by the solid performance from Olivia today."
The men took to the course as the last woman crossed the line. Trying to get the race in before the race started, the gun went off and Chris Christiano kicked it in. However, this was a team win from start to finish, every racers time mattered, only one point separated the final scores. Each member of the Knights did their part, finishing 1
