Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team saw its 2023 season come to an end Tuesday night following a 14-1 loss to third seeded Farmingdale State in the First Round of the Skyline Conference Championship.
Shannon McGowan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored the goal for the Mount with
Liz Petrellese (Levittown, N.Y.) making 17 saves in goal.
Tuesday's loss ends the Mount's season at 6-11 overall while Farmingdale State improves to 8-9 overall and advances to the Semifinal Round where it will take on USMMA on Thursday.
How It Happened
- The Rams opened a three-goal advantage quickly on Tuesday, netting their first three markers inside the first five minutes of action.
- Athena Vogiatzis got the scoring started with her 39th goal of the year just 1:05 into the contest before Molly Espey netted the eventual game winning goal just 14 seconds later.
- Espey struck with her second goal of the first period at the 10:40 mark, the final marker of the opening stanza.
- Leading by three goals through 15 minutes, the Rams put four more goals on the board in the second frame.
- Kailee Coppola pushed the Rams in front 4-0 with her seventh goal of the season 1:59 into the stanza.
- Following goals from Ashley Codispoti and Megan Diamond, Vogiatzis closed out the scoring in the first half with her second of the game to give the Rams a 7-0 lead heading into the intermission.
- Marina Zumbrunn pushed Farmingdale State in front 8-0 at the 11:52 mark of the third quarter.
- Mount Saint Mary would get on the board at the 10:02 of the third quarter when McGowan finished off her 13th goal of the season.

- Victoria Ward (Oceanside, N.Y.) led the Mount with four draw controls and unleashed a team-high seven shots.
- Karlie Ferrucci (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) secured three draw controls and added a groundball.
- Sinead Henry (Pearl River, N.Y.) gathered three groundballs and won a draw control.
- Petrellese finished the night matching her season-high in saves with 17 and finishes the year with 180 stops.
For The Rams
- Codispoti led the Rams with four goals, adding two groundballs, two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
- Diamond scored once and assisted on two goals while leading the team with four draw controls.
- Vogiatzis tallied three times and gathered four groundballs.
- Emily Zeblisky caused three turnovers in the game and secured four groundballs.
