Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – After setting two Indoor records during the 20220-23 season, sophomore
Christopher Christiano (Waterbury, Conn.) put his name on the Outdoor Record Board in the 800-meters on Friday at the Vassar Invitational. The Knights finished the event in eighth place with six points.
Christiano set both the 800 and 1,000-meter records during the Indoor season, before running to a school standard time of 2:02.47 in the 800-meter Outdoor event on Friday. Christiano finished the race in ninth place overall and edged the previous school mark of 2:02.72 set by Adam Al-Haraizeh on May 6, 2016.
Michael Gillespie (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also had a solid day on the track for the Mount, placing 12
th overall in the 400-meters.
In the field events,
Andrew Maloy (Calabash, N.C.) took third place for the Mount in the Hammer Throw with a heave of 38.48 meters and added a 13
th place finish in the Discus with a mark of 24.72 meters.
Mount Saint Mary continues the 2023 Outdoor Season on April 14 when it heads north to RPI.
