Kings Point, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Track and Field team continued the 2023 Outdoor Season on Sunday at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Andrew Maloy (Calabash, N.C.) earned a runner-up finish in the Hammer Throw for the Knights, who placed 10
th overall with 24 points.
Maloy picked up the team's best individual finish of the day, taking second in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 36.05 meters. Maloy closed out a strong day with a 14
th place showing in the Shot Put with a heave of 8.72 meters.
On the track,
Christopher Christiano (Waterbury, Conn.) posted a pair of strong runs, finishing third in the 800-meters and fourth in the 1,500-meters. Christiano's 800-meter run finished in 2:04.75 before he produced a time of 4:21.16 in the 1,500-meters.
Michael Gillespie (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also turned in a strong performance for the Mount in the 200-meter dash, placing ninth with a time of 24.47 seconds.
Following Sunday's strong performance, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on April 7 when it takes part in the Vassar Invitational.
