Men’s Track And Field Competes At RPI Under The Lights

Christiano breaks own 800-meter record

Troy, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Track and Field team continued the Outdoor Season on Friday at the RPI Under the Lights Meet. Four Knights set season or personal bests at the meet, including Christopher Christiano (Waterbury, Conn.) who broke his own 800-meter record.
 
Christiano continued his standout Outdoor season on Friday with a season best time in the 1,500-meters and a new school standard in the 800-meters. Christiano posted a time of 4:18.36 in the 1,500-meter race while completing the 800-meters in 2:02.19. The 800-meter time narrowly eclipses his pervious school mark of 2:02.47 set on April 7.
 
Andrew Maloy (Calabash, N.C.) had a strong day in the throws for the Mount, placing eighth overall in the Hammer Throw and 18th in the Shot Put. Maloy posted a mark of 37.90 meters in the Hammer Throw while posting a personal best heave of 9.05 meters in the Shot Put.
 
Mount Saint Mary also received strong showings on Friday from Michael Gillespie (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Christian Pangione (Edgewater, N.J.). Gillespie finished 12th in the 400-meters in a season best time of 53.99 seconds while taking the 14th position in the 200-meters in 23.95 seconds. Pangione ran to a season best time of 5:16.10 in the 1,500-meters for the Knights.
 
Mount Saint Mary will return to action on April 23 when it takes part in the 2023 Skyline Conference Championship Meet.
