Delhi, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team was in action on the road Wednesday afternoon, suffering an 8-1 non-conference loss at SUNY Delhi.
Jonathan Kara (White Plains, N.Y.) earned the Mount's first singles win of the season in the match.
Playing at fifth singles, Kara outlasted his opponent from Delhi in three sets. After dropping the opening frame 3-6, Kara rebounded with a pair of 6-2 victories to get the Knights on the board.
Mount Saint Mary also got solid single performances from
J.T. Maccarrone (Lakeland, N.Y.) at the third position and
Christopher Closi (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) at the second slot who each fell in 3-6, 0-6 decisions.
In doubles play, Maccarrone and
Matthew Ropiak (Staten Island, N.Y.) fell 3-8 at second doubles with Jonathan and
William Kara (White Plains, N.Y.) battling in a 4-8 third doubles defeat.
At 0-2 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on April 1 when it plays host to league rival Sarah Lawrence.
