Clermont, Fla. – Following an off day on Wednesday, the Mount Saint Mary College Softball team split a pair of contests on Thursday, doubling up Macalester 8-4 before falling to Western New England 4-1. The Knights pounded out 10 hits in their victory and featured four players with two hits.

How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary outhit Macalester 10-3 and did all of its scoring over the first three innings of the contest.
- The Knights got on the board first following a leadoff walk from Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) and a sacrifice from Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.).
- Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.) followed with a single to left to force Ferara home with the game's first run.
- The Knights grew their lead to 3-0 in the top the of the second after stringing together three hits.
- Sophia Reed (Rockaway, N.J.) and Paige Shrimpton (Rockville Center, N.Y.) started the inning with back-to-back singles ahead of a walk to Ferara that loaded the bases with one out.
- An infield single from Dentato pushed across the first run of the inning and Bendig drove in her second run of the game with a sacrifice fly.
- Mount Saint Mary erupted for five runs in the third inning to surge in front 8-0.
- With the bases loaded and one out in the third, Ferara singled to center to drive in Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) with the inning's first tally.
- Dentato followed with a two-run double that plated Shrimpton and Melanie McClinchey (Medford, N.Y.) to push the advantage to 6-0.
- Bendig delivered her third run of the game with another sacrifice fly and Dentato scored on a two-out error to close out the scoring in the inning.
- Macalester sliced its disadvantage in half in the home half of the third, scoring all four of its runs on three hits.
- Jessica Katzin had the big blow in the inning for the Scots with a two-run single with one out in the inning.
- Elsa Church added a run scoring groundout to bring the Macalester to within the final four-run decision.
- After surrendering four runs in the third, Mount Saint Mary starter, Bridget Morris (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), retired the side in order in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh frames to secure the victory.

How It Happened
- After recording 10 hits in Thursday's opener, the Knights were held to just two safeties against the Golden Bears.
- Western New England plated three runs in the fourth inning and tacked on a run in the fifth for all the scoring it would need in the game.
- Mount Saint Mary got on the board with its only run of the game in the home half of the sixth inning.
- Ferara ripped a double to put runners on second and third with two outs ahead of a run scoring single off the bat of Dentato.
