Newburgh, NY — The Knights hosted Adelphi University and SUNY Delhi this afternoon for their first home meet of the season. Both men and women beat SUNY Delhi and lost to Adelphi.
Women's Recap
The Knights Women won against SUNY Delhi with a score of 129-13 and lost to Adelphi (77-116). Adelphi was dominant, but the Knights were still able to find their groove in a few key races.
First place swims today came from
Cayla Nicholas,
Kitty Masayda and
Emily Gursky.
Nicholas swept sprint freestyle today, winning the 50-yard race at a 26.66 and the 100-yard race, coming in at 58.82.
Gursky won the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:10.77.
Masayda pulled through and took
first in the 100-yard breastroke today, with a time of 1:13.92. This was her third event of the afternoon, after competing in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly back-to-back.
Grace MacHugh had another high finish for the Knights, swimming to second place in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:29.53.
Men's Recap
While the men beat SUNY Delhi (67-25), the Panthers from Adelphi just could not be caught this afternoon ending with a score of 20-149. Still, the Knights Men had plenty of solid personal swims across the pool today.
Jackson Lerner,
Michael D'Ambrosio and
Tyler Williams fought through the meet, each earning third place finishes this afternoon.
Lerner broke a minute in his 100-yard butterfly with a 59.72, before placing third in the 100-yard backstroke at a 1:11.50.
Williams swam to third in the 1000-yard freestyle at 12:59.34 and D'Ambrosio earned a 1:17.93 in his 100-yard breastroke.
This afternoon was tough, but the Knights look forward to another shot tomorrow when they will head to Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson.
