Newburgh, N.Y. - Both the Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will be in action for the first time in 2023 on Saturday afternoon when they travel to non-conference foe William Paterson. Events with the Pioneers in Wayne, N.J. are scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
MSMC Men At A Glance: The Knights return to competition for the first time since December 3 when they rounded out the two-day College of Staten Island Invitational. The Mount stands at 2-2 in dual meet competition thus far and posted a fourth place team finish in their last outing.Â
On Day Two of the CSI Invitational,
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.)Â picked up the team's best individual finish of the day in the longest event of the invitational. He touched out in third place for the Knights in the 1,000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 12:15.25.

Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) turned in a strong day for the Mount with a fifth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle and an eighth-place swim in the 100-yard butterfly. His freestyle swim was completed in 50.52 seconds and he added a time of 58.87 seconds in the butterfly event.

Mount Saint Mary added fourth place finishes in each of the two relay events it competed in on Saturday. The 200-yard medley team of Williams, Tagliareni,
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) and
Christopher Astacio (Bronx, N.Y.) posted a time of 2:02.69 with the 800-yard freestyle team of
Atticus Salazar (Queens, N.Y.), Tagliareni, Lerner and Williams producing a time of 9:11.71.
MSMC Women At A Glance: The Mount Saint Mary women were also last in action on December 3, rounding out the College of Staten Island Invitational in fourth place. The Knights stand at 2-4 overall through six dual meet decisions, including a 1-2 mark in Skyline Conference competition.Â
On the final day of events at Staten Island,
Grace MacHugh (Newburgh, N.Y.) continued the strong start to her rookie season on Saturday with a third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley and a fourth-place showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle. MacHugh produced an IM time of 5:25.16 to go along with a time of 12:25.02 in the freestyle race.

Stefanie Sommer (Monroe, N.Y.) earned a third-place finish for the Mount in the 100-yard backstroke before posting a sixth-place finish for the Knights in the 100-yard freestyle. Sommer completed the backstroke race in a time of 1:08.06 and touched out in 1:01.93 in the freestyle race.

Kitty Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) completed a strong day with fourth-place finishes for the Knights in the 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard breaststroke while
Emily Gursky (Oakville, Conn.) scored a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. Masayda completed her fourth-place finishes in 5:33.15 and 2:47.30, respectively, with Gursky showing a time of 2:31.53.

The Knights also added fourth-place finishes in both the 800-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay races. The 800-yard squad of Masayda, Sommer,
Kristen Dwight (Newfield, N.J.) and MacHugh posted a time of 9:25.27 with the 400-yard team of MacHugh,
Cayla Nicholas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Sommer and Masayda producing a time of 4:08.03.
What's Next: The Knights travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday to take on the host Mariners and Maritime before returning to the Kaplan Center Pool on January 21 to host league rival Purchase and non-conference foe John Jay.Â
