LaGrangeville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Golf team returned to action in impressive fashion on Monday, winning the Manhattanville Invitational with a team score of 332.
Chris Shea (Warwick, N.Y.) led the charge for the Knights, tying for first place on the day.
C. Shea finished in a tie for medalist honors in the 28 golfer field and was one of just two players to break 80 on the day. Shea made his way around the par-72 course at the Links at Union Vale in a seven-over par 79, carding a season best score for the Knights.
Junior
John Del Bene (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) returned to the Mount's lineup and completed a solid round, tying for third place with an 82 for the Knights.
Trevor Zamudio (Beacon, N.Y.) continued his steady rookie campaign with an 84 on Monday, good for a tie for eighth place.
Patrick Shea (Warwick, N.Y.) completed the round on Monday in a tie for 13
th place with an 87, while freshman
Christopher Closi (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) rounded out the Mount's lineup with a round of 93 on Monday, good for a tie for the 22
nd position.
The Knights won the six-team event on Monday with a score of 332, clearing second place Manhattanville by seven strokes. St. Joseph's-L.I. came in third (342) with Western Connecticut (349), Old Westbury (357) and the College of Mount Saint Vincent (381) rounding out the field.
Mount Saint Mary, which scored its second invitational win of the season on Monday, is back on the course Saturday when it travels to St. Joseph's-L.I.
