New Haven, Conn. – Mount Saint Mary College Senior
Samantha Papadopoulos (Smithtown, N.Y.) set two school records on Day Two of the ECAC Championship and three overall at the Championship Meet on her way to being named the ECAC Championship Most Outstanding Performer. Papadopoulos led the Mount to a fifth place finish out of 14 teams, first among Skyline schools, with 40 points.
After setting a school mark in the Triple Jump on Wednesday, Papadopoulos set a new school record in the Long Jump on Thursday with a mark of 5.03 meters. The leap tops her own previous record of 4.97 meters. Papadopoulos added a fourth place finish in the High Jump on Thursday, clearing 1.40 meters for the Knights.
On the track, Papadopoulos set a school record in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third in the event, and added a fourth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash. Papadopoulos posted a time of 16.55 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, besting her previous record of 17.23 seconds set on April 8. She added times of 1:12.65 and 13.69 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, respectively.
Joanne Kubat (Williston Park, N.Y.) and
KellyAnn Platt also rounded out the Outdoor Season in strong form for the Mount on Thursday. Kubat finished sixth in both hurdle event with times of 20.16 seconds and 1:26.24, while Platt placed eighth in the Discus with a mark of 26.14 meters.
Papadopoulos closes her career with four Outdoor School Records.
