Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Track and Field Team continued the 2022 Outdoor season Friday afternoon at the Vassar Invitational.
Kenneth Barrett (Wantagh, N.Y.) set a new school record in the 5,000-meters for the Knights, while
Andrew Maloy won the Hammer Throw with a new personal best.
Barrett, who set the new standard in the 1,500-meters last week at USMMA, broke the previous mark in the event by better than 10 seconds after running a time of 16:20.62 on Friday at Vassar. Barrett now finds himself on the Outdoor Record board in both the 1,500 and 5,000-meters.
Maloy picked up one of the team's two wins on the afternoon on Friday, topping the field in the Hammer Throw. He posted a mark of 39.41 meters, setting a new personal best and topping the field by nearly four meters.
Dabein Walker (Wyandanch, N.Y.) scored a victory for the Mount in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.66 meters and added a third place showing in the Triple Jump and a fourth place finish in the Javelin with marks of 12.61 and 41.34 meters, respectively.
Staying on the field, Jesse Hull (Mahopac, N.Y.) turned in a strong day with a fifth place finish in the Discus, a sixth place finish in the Hammer Throw and a 10
th place showing in the Javelin with heaves of 31.80, 19.33 and 33.38 meters.
Anthony Acosta (Washingtonville, N.Y.) finished just behind Walker in the Triple Jump with a leap of 12.60 meters.
On the Track,
Michael Gillespie placed fourth in the 400-meters with a time of 54.02 seconds, while
Ramasoj Williams (Hyde Park, N.Y.) took 10
th in the 200-meters in 24.42 seconds. Williams added a fourth place showing in the High Jump for the Knights with a mark of 1.65 meters.
Following the Easter Break, Mount Saint Mary returns to action at the 2022 Skyline Conference Championship Meet on April 24.
