Softball Set For Home Games With Western Connecticut, Purchase

Knights look to extend four game winning streak

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team will play four games over the next two days when it welcomes Western Connecticut and league rival Purchase to Newburgh. Live Stats and Video will be available for both doubleheaders with each set scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary is coming off four straight run-rule conference victories and begins the new week with an 8-11 overall record. The Knights topped Yeshiva on Friday 11-0 and 10-1 before overwhelming the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday by scores of 16-3 and 14-5.
 
Three Knights are hitting at least .300 through 19 games, led by a .355 mark from sophomore Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.). Ferara leads the team with 22 hits and 13 runs and is tied for second on the squad with 10 RBI.
 
Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) checks in with a .350 batting average in 60 at-bats and trails only Ferara with 21 base hits. She has scored 12 times and driven in eight runs for the Knights. Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.) is hitting an even .300 to date with a team-high four doubles and 10 RBI.
 
Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.) has connected on a team-high two home runs and is hitting .294 with Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, N.Y.) leading the team with 13 RBI. Riley Norwood (East Haven, Conn.) checks in with 10 RBI on the strength of two doubles and a triple.
 
Christen Hansen (Cypress, Calif.) leads the team with five wins in a team-high 44.0 innings pitched. She is working to a 2.39 earned run average and has totaled 18 strikeouts. Bridget Morris (Yorktown, N.Y.) has fanned a team-high 47 batters in 43.0 innings pitched.
 
Scouting West Conn: The Colonials come to town sporting a 10-12 overall record and is looking to stop a five-game skid.
Jada Miconi leads the team with a .350 batting average and 13 runs scored, while Amber Roggendorf checks in with a .339 average and 11 RBI. Carly Cordova paces the Colonials with 13 RBI while hitting .303 on the season.
 
Hailey Golembiewski has worked a team-high 62.0 innings and won four ball games while pitching to a 1.35 earned run average. She has fanned 82 batters and allows opponents to hit just .187.
 
Recent History: The two teams have met nine times the start of the 2009 season with the Colonials holding a 6-3 record. Western Connecticut has won the last three meetings overall in the series.
 
Previewing Purchase: The Panthers head to Newburgh with an 8-10 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play. Purchase had a six-game winning streak on Tuesday following a doubleheader loss to league rival St. Joseph's-L.I.
 
Kelly Agostini leads the team with 16 hits and hits .308 with 12 RBI. Rebecca Bronzi paces the team with 13 RBI while hitting .319 on the season. Brianna Palermo has scored a team best 17 runs and paces the team in doubles with five while batting .350.
 
Agostini holds a 6-6 record in the circle in a team-high 67.1 innings pitched. She has worked to a 5.88 earned run average and struck out a team-high 37 batters.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2012 season, Mount Saint Mary and Purchase have hooked up 15 times with the Knights holding a 13-2 record. The Knights have won the last seven meetings and have not lost to the Panthers since a 2-1 defeat in game two of a doubleheader on April 8, 2017.
 
What's Next: Mount Saint Mary is scheduled to travel to Cobleskill on April 20.
