Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team will play a game away from Kaplan Field for the first time since February 19 on Wednesday when it travels to Castleton for a midweek non-conference clash with the Spartans. At A Glance: After winning five straight games from March 3-March 18, the Mount has dropped its last three outings, including an 18-9 Skyline Conference loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday. The Knights begin play on Wednesday with a 6-4 overall record.
Megan Shalvey (Blauvelt, N.Y.) is in the midst of a strong season for the Knights, leading the team with 32 goals and 40 points. Shalvey also chips in 10 groundballs, eight caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.
Victoria Ward (Oceanside, N.Y.) paces the Mount with 13 assists and is second on the team with 26 points. She adds 12 draw controls, six groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers.
Ashley Giorgi (Danbury, Conn.) rounds out a trio of Knights with at least 20 points, scoring 18 times and adding two assists to go along with eight groundballs and eight draw controls.
Karlie Ferrucci (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) leads the way with 20 groundballs and chips in 11 goals, 10 caused turnovers and 10 draw controls.
Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.) leads the way with 36 draws and contributes five goals on offense.
Maggie Horan (Stony Point, N.Y.) and
Kate Crooker (Boonton, N.J.) anchor the Knights' backline, with Horan leading the team with 14 caused turnovers while scooping 19 groundballs. Crooker has forced 13 miscues to date and collected 19 groundballs.
Liz Petrellese (Levittown, N.Y.) has started all 10 games in goal for the Knights and has turned aside 78 opponent shots. She holds a 13.17 goals against average and a .438 save percentage.
Mary Massaro (Watertown, Conn.) has seen time in six contests and made 15 saves.
Scouting The Spartans: Castleton has dropped its last four contests and enters Wednesday's game at 1-8 overall.
Kimberley McCarthy is the team leader in goals with 22 and is tied for the team lead in points with 23. She added 27 groundballs, 15 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.
Lacey Greenamyre has assisted on a team-high 12 goals and is tied for the team lead in points with 23. She leads the team with 42 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers and adds 24 groundballs.
Raven Payne has seen all the action in goals through the season's first nine games and has saved 98 shots. She sports a 14.22 goals against average and a .434 save percentage.
Recent History: The two sides have met just once previously, with the Spartans sneaking past the Knights 8-7 in overtime at Kaplan Field on February 24, 2019.
