Staten Island, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team returned to the pool on Saturday and suffered a 146-30 loss to Division II College of Staten Island. Three Knights scored second place finishes, including
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) and
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) who each finished second twice.
Lerner had strong outing for the Knights with second place points in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. The 200-yard swim was completed in 2:10.04 before posting a time of 56.10 seconds in the 100-yard race.
Tagliareni closed out the day with runner-up finishes for the Mount in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Tagliareni touched out with a time of 23.25 seconds in the freestyle event and closed out the butterfly race in 57.67 seconds.
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) finished off a solid day for the Mount with a second place swim in the 500-yard freestyle and a third place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Williams swam a time of 5:58.32 in the freestyle and added a time of 2:34.43 in the IM.
Atticus Salazar produced third place points for the Mount in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 1:25.55 for the Knights.
Mount Saint Mary opened the day with a third place swim in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Tagliareni, Williams, Lerner and Salazar recorded a time of 1:59.22.
At 1-1 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on November 11 when it travels to Adelphi.
