Knights Place Third At Skyline Conference Championship; Ropiak Named First Team All-Skyline Conferencel

Ropiak finished in a tie for fifth place

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Golf team closed the 2022 Skyline Conference Championship in third place with a two-day team score of 641. Matthew Ropiak (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished the championship in a tie for fifth place, earning First Team All-Skyline Conference recognition.
 
Ropiak picks up All-League recognition for the second time in his career after being named Second Team All-Conference following the 2021 spring season. Ropiak, who entered the Second Round in a three-way tie for fourth place, slipped just one spot to a fifth place tie on Monday. He finished off his second straight strong round of the championship with a 77 on the par-70 Red Course at Bethpage State Park. Ropiak closed the two-day event with a combined score of 153, 12 strokes off the lead.
 
After shooting an 88 on Sunday, Patrick Shea (Warwick, N.Y.) rebounded with a 76 on Monday, jumping up 15 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 13th place overall. Chris Shea (Warwick, N.Y.) improved eight spots for the Knights on Monday, shaving five strokes off his First Round score with an 80 on Monday.
 
Completing in his first Skyline Conference Championship, Trevor Zamudio (Beacon, N.Y.) carded an 88 on Monday to finish in a tie for 17th place with a combined score of 166. John Del Bene (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished off the event with a two-day score of 169 after carding an 87 in the Second Round. Del Bene finished the event in a four-way tie for 22nd place.
 
Farmingdale State won the team event with a two-day score of 589. The Rams won the event by 49 strokes over runner-up Manhattanville with the Knights finishing just three strokes behind the Valiants. Brad Castaldy from the Rams won the individual title with a two-day score of 141 winning the event by seven strokes over teammate Mackenzie Kim.
 
Monday's round completes the fall season for Mount Saint Mary. Spring events will be announced as the schedule becomes available.
