Newburgh, N.Y. – Swimming in its final dual meet of the season, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team suffered an 81-63 home loss to William Paterson on Senior Day.
Jillian Bunch (Newburgh, N.Y.) paced the Knights with a pair of wins on the day.
Bunch scored victories in a pair of freestyle events for the Knights on Saturday, topping the field in the 50-yard event with a time of 27.19 seconds before taking the top spot in the 500-yard race after swimming a time of 6:14.96.
Swimming in her final home meet,
Emily Crowley (Yorktown, N.Y.) scored a victory for the Knights in the 100-yard breaststroke. She touched out first for the Knights, posting a time of 1:21.24.
Emily Gursky (Oakville, Conn.) and
Catherine Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) each turned in a pair of runner-up finishes against the Pioneers. Gursky scored runner-up points in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with times of 2:25.16 and 1:13.29 while Masayda placed second in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly, posting times of 2:35.30 and 1:13.76.
Kristen Dwight (Newfield, N.J.) rounded out a strong day for the Mount with a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a third place showing in the 50-yard freestyle. Her runner-up swim came in 1:06.52 with her third place finish coming in a time of 29.87 seconds.
Mount Saint opened the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Gursky, Crowley, Masayda and Dwight posting a time of 2:14.48.
Mount Saint Mary closes the dual meet portion of the schedule with a 2-8 record. The Knights return to action on January 22 when they swim in the first day of the Skyline Conference Championship.
