Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team suffered a 101-61 loss to William Paterson on Senior Day in the final dual meet of the season. Swimming in his final home meet,
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) won a pair of events on the day for the Knights.
Tagliareni continued his strong season on Saturday with victories for the Knights in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. His initial win of the day came in the freestyle event, with a time of 22.94 seconds, before he topped the field in the backstroke race in 56.87 seconds.
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) finished the day with a win and a runner-up finish for the Mount. Williams touched out first in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 2:08.37, before taking the runner-up position in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:53.09.
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) finished off a strong day for the Mount with a pair of second place finishes against the Pioneers. Lerner followed Tagliareni in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.30 seconds and also earned runner-up points for the Knights in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming a time of 1:00.21.
Mount Saint Mary opened the day with a strong swim in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Williams, Tagliareni, Lerner and
Atticus Salazar posting a winning time of 2:00.15.
Mount Saint Mary enters the Skyline Conference Championship next weekend after posting a 1-7 record in dual meets.
