Swimming Hosts William Paterson On Senior Day

Knights close regular season with home non-conference meet

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will round out the dual meet portion of the schedule on Saturday when they welcome William Paterson to the Kaplan Center Pool on Senior Day. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. with Live Video available.
 
Spectator Policy: Per Skyline Conference policy, NO FANS will be permitted at Saturday's meet.
 
MSMC At A Glance: The Mount's Men's squad is coming off a pair of Skyline Conference defeats on Thursday at Maritime, falling to the host Privateers and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Knights enter the final dual meet of the season with a 1-6 overall record.
 
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) posted the two best individual finishes of the night for the Mount, taking third in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. His freestyle swim came in 1:56.38 before posting a time of 56.75 seconds in the backstroke race.
 
Atticus Salazar scored a pair of fourth place finishes for the Mount, swimming a time of 24.48 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 1:01.44 in the 100-yard butterfly for the Knights.
 
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) turned in two fifth place finishes for the Knights on Thursday. He touched out in a time of 2:30.00 in the 200-yard individual medley and swam to a time of 5:54.82 in the 500-yard freestyle.
 
Recent History: The Mount is winless in four previous decisions with the Pioneers since the start of the 2007-08 season. The Mount and William Paterson have not met since December 5, 2015 with the Pioneers coming away with a 150-77 win in Wayne, N.J.
 
MSMC Women At A Glance: The Mount Saint Mary Women's team returned to action for the first time since December 4 on Thursday and fell to league rivals Maritime and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Knights begin action on Saturday with a 2-7 overall record.
 
Emily Crowley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished second for the Mount in the 200-yard breaststroke and closed a strong night with a fourth place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Her second place swim came in a time of 1:22.04 and she swam to a time of 1:07.04 in the freestyle event.
 
Catherine Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) scored second place points for the Mount in the 100-yard butterfly and also added a fourth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. She touched out in the butterfly race in a time of 1:07.04 and completed the freestyle swim in 2:22.52.
 
Emily Gursky (Oakville, Conn.) ended the night with a third place showing in the 500-yard freestyle to go along with a fourth place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. The freestyle event was completed in 6:43.60 while she touched out in the IM race in 2:43.32.
 
Kristen Dwight (Newfield, N.J.) turned in a strong swim for the Knights in the 50-yard freestyle, placing fourth in a time of 29.65 seconds. She added a second fourth place finish on Thursday in the 100-yard backstroke, completing the event in 1:16.73.
 
Mount Saint Mary opened the evening with a third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Gurskey, Crowley, Masayda and Dwight posting a time of 2:09.30.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Pioneers have split four previous meetings since the start of the 2007-08 season. The Knights dropped back-to-back decisions in 2008 and 2013, but have won the last two meetings, including a 124-99 road victory on December 5, 2015.
 
What's Next: The Knights will return to action on January 22 when it competes on the first day of the 2022 Skyline Conference Championship.
