Men’s Swimming Drops Skyline Decisions To Maritime, USMMA

Tagliareni scores two third place finishes

Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team returned to action on Thursday and suffered a pair of Skyline Conference losses, falling to Maritime 134-45 and the United States Merchant Marine Academy 173-27. Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) led the Knights with two third place individual finishes.
 
Tagliareni posted the two best individual finishes of the night for the Mount, taking third in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. His freestyle swim came in 1:56.38 before posting a time of 56.75 seconds in the backstroke race.
 
Atticus Salazar scored a pair of fourth place finishes for the Mount, swimming a time of 24.48 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 1:01.44 in the 100-yard butterfly for the Knights.
 
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) turned in two fifth place finishes for the Knights on Thursday. He touched out in a time of 2:30.00 in the 200-yard individual medley and swam to a time of 5:54.82 in the 500-yard freestyle.
 
Following Thursday's results, Mount Saint Mary stands at 1-6 overall and 0-4 in Skyline Conference competition. The Knights will close out the dual meet portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host William Paterson starting at 1:00 p.m.
