Mount Saint Mary Set To Host Second Invitational Of 2021

Knights to run at the SportsDome for third time this fall

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will host the second of three home meets Sunday when they welcome nearly 20 schools to the second race in the MSMC Cross Country Series. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the men to follow at approximately noon.
 
MSMC Men At A Glance: Running in his first 8K race of the season, Kenneth Barrett (Wantagh, N.Y.) made his way around the course at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in a time of 30:22.50 at the New Paltz Invitational. The time was good for 14th place overall in a field of 41 finishers.
 
Christopher Christiano (Waterbury, Conn.) was the Mount's second finisher for the second time in as many races on Friday. He completed the course in a time of 32:51.20 in his first career 8K race, finishing 22nd overall.
 
Rounding out the four-runner field for the Knights were Christian Pangione (Edgewater, N.J.) and Anthony Acosta (Washingtonville, N.Y.). Pangione placed 27th overall in a time of 34:03.90 with Acosta posting a time of 39:33.70, good for 32nd place overall.
 
MSMC Women's At A Glance:  The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Cross Country team raced to a third place finish on Friday at the New Paltz Invitational. Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) led the Knights who finished with a team total of 73 points.
 
Competing in her second career race and her first career 6K event, Desrats raced to a ninth place overall finish in a field of 27 runners. Desrats completed the 6K circuit at the Hudson Valley SportsDome in a time of 30:47.70.
 
Priya Patel (Ozone Park, N.Y.) turned in a strong run and was the Mount's second finisher, crossing the finish line in 14th place overall. She made her way around the course in a time of 33:21.00 for the Knights. Cameron Villanueva (Columbia, Conn.), also running her first career 6K race, was the Mount's third finisher. She placed 16th overall in a time of 34:22.30.
 
Rounding out the Mount's top-five on Friday were Alyssa Millburn (Middlebury, Conn.) and Joanne Kubat (Williston Park, N.Y.). Running in her first career race, Millburn posted a time of 34:51.80, good for the 18th position overall. Kubat came home in the 20th position, running a time of 37:13.0.
 
Jessica Kerrigan (Howard Beach, N.Y.) and Nicole Villachica (Newburgh, N.Y.) also turned in strong runs for the Knights. Kerrigan placed 23rd in a time of 44:41.70 with Villachica completing the race in the 27th position.

What's Next: The Knights will round out the regular season on October 9 when they host the 13th Annual MSMC Knight Invite.
