Killeen drives in only run in game two

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team opened a four-game weekend series with Farmingdale State with 8-0 and 9-1 road losses on Friday night. Sophomore Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) finished game two with a pair of hits and the team's only RBI of the night.

Game 1: Farmingdale State 8 – Mount Saint Mary 0 (6 innings)
The Knights were shutout for the second time in the last five games in Friday's opener and were limited to just three hits. After being held off the board in the bottom of the first, the Rams scored in each of their next five at-bats, including two-run innings in the second, fourth and sixth frames.

Farmingdale State got all the scoring it needed in the second when it scored twice on a throwing error. Jessica Lombardo drove in a run with a single in the third before the Rams scored two more runs on a Mount miscue in the sixth. Brooke Walker homered in the fifth to give Farmingdale State a 6-0 lead and Jessica Clark ended the game with a two-run single in the sixth.

Lombardo and Walker each finished with two hits for the Rams with Walker scoring twice and driving in a run. Calrke drove in two runs and Allie Stanya scored twice in the win.

Samantha Bendig (Bellmore, N.Y.) recorded two of the Mount's three hits in game one, including her eighth double of the season. Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded the other hit for the Knights and added a walk.

Freshman Bridget Morris (Yorktown, N.Y.) took the loss in the circle for the Knights after working 3.2 innings. She allowed only one earned run in the outing on five hits and struck out a pair of Rams. Stanya picked up the complete game shutout win, allowing just the three hits while fanning five.

Game 2: Farmingdale State 9 – Mount Saint Mary 1 (6 innings)
The Rams broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning of game two when Lyndsay Shaw drove in Angelina Capuano with the game's first run. Farmingdale State then broke open a five-run lead with four tallies in the home half of the fourth frame. Capuano keyed the inning with a two-run double to left field.
