Release courtesy of the Skyline Conference
The Skyline Conference is committed to offering participation in athletics in an environment that prioritizes the health and safety of all student-athletes and staff members. The Conference respects the decisions and autonomy of each of its member institutions to adopt their own policies regarding visitors to their campuses during the pandemic. These individual policies govern each institution's capacity to welcome spectators to their campuses. Recognizing these differences, the Skyline Conference Presidents Council revisited the issue of hosting spectators on campus. The Council voted unanimously to allow its member institutions, as each see fit, the autonomy to establish institution-specific policy regarding spectators at home athletic events for the remainder of the spring semester. Member institutions will implement their decision regarding spectators at a date of their choosing.
The Council requires those institutions that permit spectators at athletic events to follow all federal, state, local and campus requirements and guidelines. These include, but are not limited to: a masking mandate, physical distancing and capacity limits. There shall be no interaction permitted between spectators and our student-athletes and coaching staffs at the site of competition.
The Skyline Conference will work with member institutions to assure that this policy of individual autonomy regarding spectators is appropriately implemented.
