Purchase, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team suffered its third straight loss on Friday, dropping a 21-12 Skyline Conference decision at Manhattanville.
Megan Shalvey (Blauvelt, N.Y.) and
Ashley Giorgi (Danbury, Conn.) led the offense with five points each in the game.
After the Valiants tallied the first two goals of the game, Knights sliced their deficit in half when
Ella Garner (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored at the 23:49 mark of the first half off a feed from Giorgi.
From there, Manhattanville ripped off the next six goals to open an 8-1 lead with 20:34 mark of the opening period. The Mount got back on the board when Giorgi scored her first of the game with just under 18 minutes left before halftime to start a three goal run by the Knights. Giorgi scored her second straight goal at 15:14 and Shavley potted a man-up goal at 14:11 to get the Mount to within 8-4.
After Manhattanville spread its lead back to 9-4, the Mount scored three straight to get to within 9-7 before the Valiants scored twice in the final 5:10 to carry an 11-7 lead into the intermission.
Victoria Ward (Oceanside, N.Y.), Giorgi and Shalvey all scored for the Knights in its second three goal run of the half.
After 30 minutes of play, Manhattanville held an 18-10 advantage in shots and a 17-10 edge in groundballs. Manhattanville also posted a 12-7 edge in draw controls over the first period.
Coming out of the break, the Valiants scored the first two goals to grab a 13-7 advantage and did not allow the Mount closer than six goals the remainder of the tilt. The Mount could not score consecutive goals after halftime, with

Kaitlyn DeLorenzo (Southington, Conn.), Shalvey and Ward accounting for the team's five second half goals.
Shalvey wrapped up the contest with four goals and an assist, moving her team lead in goals to nine and points to 12. Giorgi tallied three times and assisted on a pair of goals, moving into second on the team in markers with seven.
Ward finished off a strong game with two goals and a team-high five draw controls with DeLorenzo scoring once and claiming four draw controls.
Nicole Cervone (Shirley, N.Y.) collected three groundballs and joined
Kate Crooker (Shelbyville, Del.) with a team-high two caused turnovers.
Lara Keenan and Maura Kelly each finished with five goals and seven points to lead the Valiants with Keenan leading the way in the game with nine draw controls. Kelly finished off the win with seven groundballs and eight draws for Manhattanville.
Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) closed the day with eight saves in goal and three groundballs, while Britney Sirota earned the win for Manhattanville with four stops.
Manhattanville closed the game with a 41-18 advantage in shots, outshooting the Knights 23-8 after halftime. The Valiants also closed the Knights with a 37-17 edge in groundballs and a 21-14 advantage in draw controls.
At 1-3 overall and in Skyline Conference play, the Knights will return home to take on St. Joseph's-L.I. on April 21. Opening Draw with the Golden Eagles is slated for 6:00 p.m.
