Bronxville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team returned to action on Saturday, dropping a Skyline Conference decision to Sarah Lawrence by a score of 78-57 before scoring its first win of the season against Queensborough Community College by a score of 90-16.
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.),
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) and
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) all won events for the Knights.
Williams started the day with first place points for the Knights in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:28.54. Williams finished off a strong day with a runner-up finish for the Mount in the 500-yard freestyle, touching out in 5:55.78.
Lerner picked up the Mount's second win of the day in the 100-yard freestyle and added a second place showing in the 50-yard freestyle. Lerner's victory came in 58.57 seconds with his second place swim coming in 24.70 seconds.
Tagliareni was the third Knight to post a win and a runner-up finish, topping the field in the 100-yard backstroke and showing a second place swim in the 200-yard individual medley. Tagliareni's victory came in 1:03.89 with his IM swim concluding with a time of 2:18.99.
Mount Saint Mary also received strong swims on Saturday from
Atticus Salazar and
Peter O'Malley (Yonkers, N.Y.). Salazar swam to a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:53.12 while O'Malley scored a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.24 and a third place showing in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.01.
At 1-2 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary opens the home schedule on November 13 when it welcomes FDU-Florham to the Kaplan Center Poll. Events with the Devils are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
