Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team swam at the Kaplan Center Pool for the first time since January 18, 2020, dropping a non-conference meet to visiting FDU-Florham by a score of 110-44 Saturday afternoon.
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) and
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) scored individual victories for the Knights.
Tagliareni scored his victory for the Knights in the 200-yard backstroke and added a runner-up finish on the day in the 400-yard individual medley. His victory came in a time of 2:18.96, winning by nearly six seconds, with his runner-up time coming in 5:06.18.
Williams also had a strong day for the Mount, topping the field in the 500-yard freestyle and claiming a runner-up finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Williams won the freestyle race by nearly a minute with a time of 5:54.50 and posted a time of 2:37.50 in the butterfly event.
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) turned in a pair of runner-up finish with
Peter O'Malley (Yonkers, N.Y.) earning second place points in the 200-yard freestyle. Lerner swam to times of 24.06 and 55.79 seconds in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races with O'Malley touching out in a time of 2:02.44.
Saturday's result drops Mount Saint Mary to 1-3 in dual meet competition on the young season. Next up for the Knights is the three-day Diamond City Invitational starting on November 19.
