Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will open the 2021-22 season on Thursday when they travel to the College of Staten Island. The Men will square off with the hosts, while the women will take on the host Dolphins and Queens College starting at 6:00 p.m.

MSMC Men At A Glance: The Mount Saint Mary College Men are back in the pool for competition for the first time since the final day of the 2020 Metropolitan Championships. The Knights finished the 2019-20 season with a 4-5 record in dual meets, placing fourth at the Skyline Conference Championship and 12
th at the Metro Championship Meet.
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) returns to the Knights after scoring a pair of seventh place finishes on day-two of the 2020 Skyline Conference Championship, taking seventh in both the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley.
Tagliareni looks to lead a talented roster in 2021-22 that also features
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.),
Peter O'Malley (Yonkers, N.Y.), who earned Second Team All-Skyline Conference honors as part of the runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay team in 2017,
Atticus Salazar and
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.).
MSMC Women At A Glance: The Women's swimming team wrapped up the 2019-20 season with a 6-4 record in dual meet action, including a 6-1 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. The Knights finished second at the Skyline Conference Championship meet for the fourth straight season, going on to take the 10
th position at the Metropolitan Championship Meet.
Mount Saint Mary returns a talented corps from the 2019-20 season, headlined by
Kristen Dwight (Newfield, N.J.) and
Emily Gursky (Oakville, Conn.) who were each named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week once during their first collegiate season.
Mount Saint Mary also welcomes back
Jillian Bunch (Newburgh, N.Y.), who helped the Knights to a runner-up finish at the 2019 Skyline Championship,
Emily Crowley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and
Colleen Giordano.
Newcomers that will be leaned on for immediate contributions include:
Kelly De Leon and
Catherine Masayda (Watertown, Conn.).
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, the Knights and Dolphins have met five times, with the men going 2-3 and the women's team winning three times. The women's decision against Queens on Thursday will be the first on record.
What's Next: Following Thursday's season opener, the Mount Saint Mary men will return to action on November 6 at Sarah Lawrence, while the women will travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. on October 29.
