Women's Lacrosse Plays Home Opener Against Ramapo, Travels To Bard

Knights look to bounce back from season opening loss

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team plays its home opener against Ramapo on Wednesday night before heading north to local foe Bard on Saturday afternoon. First draw with the Roadrunners is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. while the matchup with the Raptors is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

At A Glance: The Knights dropped its season opener on Saturday afternoon in a 15-2 contest against Hartwick. Senior Liz Halpin (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) scored both goals for the Knights in the loss.
 
L. Halpin finished with two goals on six shots, including three shots on goal. Freshman Cat Halpin (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) and Carolyn Del Debbio (Plantsville, N.Y.) each registered two shots on goal while Victoria Ward (Oceanside, N.Y.) also registered a shot on goal.
 
Cat Halpin and Ward each picked up three ground balls while five different players had a caused turnover. L. Halpin led the team in draw controls with six.
 
Junior Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) took the loss in goal as she made nine saves and picked up four ground balls for the Knights.
 
Scouting Ramapo: The Roadrunners have begun the season 1-1 overall after dropping an 18-15 contest with Manhattanville and then bouncing back to defeat Keystone 19-2.
 
Shannon Eagan is the leader in goals with 10 on the season while Colleen Mason has added eight goals on the year. Taylor Peracchio has chipped in five goals and four assists while Nicole Jaskot has also added a team-high four assists.
 
Lauren Armellino is the leader in draw controls with eight while four different players have each won at least five draw controls. Peracchio is the leader in ground balls with nine as the Roadrunners have picked up 29 more ground balls than their opponent. Six different players have at least three caused turnovers for Ramapo.
 
Alexandra Kerwin has started both games in goal for the Roadrunners as she has made 23 saves on the season and holds a 12.53 goals against average.
 
Previewing Bard: The Raptors opened up their season with a 15-11 victory over Castleton this weekend. Bard will travel to Hartwick on Wednesday evening before hosting the Knights on Saturday.
Four different players scored three goals for the Raptors in the season opener as Caleigh DeCaprio led the way with three goals and three assists. Melissa Rosenthal handed out the other two assists in the game.
 
Madison Brown picked up a team-high six ground balls and caused a team-high four turnovers in the opener. Gillian Adkins won 10 draw controls in the game while Rachael Yoder won eight.
 
Isabel Kickner earned the start for Bard but she split time with Roxanne Rouskas. Each goalie played 30 minutes in the contest as Kickner made five saves and Rouskas made six saves.
 
What's Next: The Knights travel to former conference foe Sage on Tuesday, March 10 for a non-league matchup. First draw with the Gators is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
