Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team was back in action for the first time since December 7 on Tuesday night and dropped a pair of Skyline Conference decisions. The Mount was upended by Maritime 156-49 and the United States Merchant Marine Academy 174-35.
Mount Saint Mary featured three swimmers on Tuesday who collected fourth place finishes, including
Matthew Gallo (Clark, N.J.) and
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.). Gallo posted fourth place showings in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races in times of 2:07.36 and 5:38.89, while Tagliareni took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.93 seconds and the 50-yard backstroke in 28.62 seconds.
Senior
Sam Kenney (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) also turned in a strong swim on Tuesday, collecting fourth place points for the Knights in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 33.70 seconds.
The Mount received fifth place finishes on Tuesday from freshman
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.) and sophomore
Philip Crandall (Ravena, N.Y.). Williams swam a time of 5:47.96 in the 500-yard freestyle, while Crandall showed a time of 1:03.04 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Tuesday's results drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-5 overall in dual meet competition and to 4-2 in Skyline Conference action. The Mount returns home on Saturday when it welcomes Baruch, FDU-Florham and Western Connecticut to the Kaplan Center Pool for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference meet.
