Women’s Tennis Continues Skyline Conference Play Against Manhattanville

Knights coming off 5-4 victory over Yeshiva on Sunday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team returns to action and continues the conference schedule on Tuesday evening when it plays host to Manhattanville. First serve with the Valiants on campus in Newburgh is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Tuesday's contest with a 2-3 overall record, but a 1-0 mark against league rivals. The Knights toppled Yeshiva 5-4 in its first league contest of the season Sunday afternoon.
 
Senior Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) begins play on Tuesday a perfect 5-0 in singles play, with each victory coming at the first flight. Carnovale is moving up the career wins list at Mount Saint Mary and with her 41 singles triumphs sits in a tie for sixth place all-time for the Knights. With two doubles wins on the season with partner Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.), Carnovale has amassed 70 combined wins in her career, good for 10th all-time at the Mount.
 
Junior Emily Quinn (Montgomery, N.Y.) is on a three match run for the Knights and is unbeaten in three singles decisions. Quinn is 3-0 at the sixth flight for the Mount and most recently scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Yeshiva.
 
Sophomore Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) is also off to a strong start to the season for the Mount, holding a 3-2 singles record. Murray has played at two different positions with each of her victories coming at the fourth slot.
 
In doubles play, the Mount has a trio of pairs with two wins on the season, including Carnovale and Clay. Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) and Jessalyn Goetz (Bethel, N.Y.) hold a 2-2 mark for the Knights, while Murray and Katrina Imperio (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) are unbeaten in two contests at the third position.
 
Last Time Out: The Knights battled past Yeshiva 5-4 on Sunday in its Skyline Conference opener. Carnovale at first singles, Murray at fourth singles, Goetz at fifth singles and Quinn at the sixth position scored wins for the Knights, with Carnovale and Clay posting an 8-4 win at the top doubles flight.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Valiants have hooked up just once since 2011, with the Mount posting a 7-2 win on April 3, 2011.
 
What's Next: The Knights hit the road for a 1:00 p.m. conference contest at Sarah Lawrence on September 28.
