Women’s Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season With USMMA, Maritime

Knights coming off first victory of the season on Monday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team concludes its regular season with two road contests against Skyline foes. The Knights travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. first draw and then travel to Maritime on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start.
 
At A Glance: The Knights are 1-10 (1-4 Skyline) on the season after a 15-8 home triumph against Purchase on Monday.
 
Courtney Condron (Franklin Square, N.Y.) continues to lead the Mount in goals with 24 while Megan Shalvey (Blauvelt, N.Y.) has 11 and Providence Gilkey (Shirley, N.Y.) has added 10. Alyssa DiMare (Staten Island, N.Y.) has added nine goals on the season. Shalvey leads the team in assists with seven.
 
Hope Blanc (Wantagh, N.Y.) has picked up a team-high 21 groundballs and caused 13 turnovers while Meghan Cumming (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) has picked up 20 groundballs and leads in caused turnovers with 15. Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.) leads in draw controls with 18 for the Mount.
 
Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) has started all 11 games in goal for the Knights, making 90 saves and posting a 15.47 goals against average in 531:17 minutes of action.
 
The Knights have been outscored 169-77 this season and are last in goals per game in the Skyline Conference with 7.0.
 
Last Time Out: The Mount team earned its first win of the season on Monday night as the Knights defeated Purchase 15-8 at Kaplan Field. Condron scored a career-high six goals in the victory for the Knights.
 
Condron added to a career night with an assist, two draw controls, one groundball and one caused turnover. Dolan finished with four goals on the night and one assist while DiMare added two goals and six draw controls. Nicole Cervone (Shirley, N.Y.) finished with one goal, two assists, six groundballs and three caused turnovers. Hope Blanc (Wantagh, N.Y.) added three caused turnovers and six groundballs.
 
Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) picked up the win for the Knights, making nine saves and picking up five groundballs. Mount Saint Mary finished with a 30-26 advantage in shots as well as a 25-17 advantage in shots on goal. The Knights also held the edge in groundballs at 31-20 while Purchase held a slim advantage in draw controls at 13-12.
 
Scouting the Mariners: USMMA holds an unbeaten 13-0 (5-0 Skyline) record heading into Tuesday's contest after defeating Stockton 15-13 on Saturday.
 
Merchant Marine is led by Jessie Wohner and Meredith Williard, who have combined for 100 goals on the season while five other players have double-digit goals on the season. Williard leads in assists with 17 while Jessica Reilly is second in assists with 16.
 
Reilly has picked up a team-high 41 groundballs, won 63 draw controls and caused 24 turnovers for the Mariners. Maura Malone is second in draw controls with 33 and second in groundballs with 40.
 
Hannah Gizzi has started all 13 games in goal for Merchant Marine and has made 83 saves while posting a 5.16 goals against average.
 
Merchant Marine leads the Skyline Conference in goals per game, is second in assists per game and leads the conference in goals allowed per game. They have outscored opponents 204-65 and have caused 140 turnovers as a team.

Previewing Maritime: The Privateers are 7-5 (3-3 Skyline) on the season following an 18-4 victory over Purchase on Thursday.
 
Maritime is led by Catherine Pfundstein, who has scored a team-high 48 goals. Krista Deleva is second in goals with 37 and leads in assists with 36.
 
Sara Wright has picked up 75 groundballs for the Privateers while Pfundstein and Katherine Buser have each picked up 37. Wright also leads in caused turnovers with 22 and draw controls with 110.
 
Esmeralda Hernandez has recorded all 720 minutes in goal for Maritime this season as she has made 121 saves and holds an 8.92 GAA.
 
Maritime leads the conference in assists per game and is fourth in goals per game. They are second in goals allowed per game and winning the draw control battle at 164-94 on the season.
