Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team returns to action for the first time in 10 days when they take on Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday. First draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
At A Glance: The Knights are 0-5 on the season following a tough road loss to Vassar.
Courtney Condron (Franklin Square, N.Y.) leads the Mount in goals with 11 while
Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.) and
Providence Gilkey (Shirley, N.Y.) are tied for second with four.
Anne Dolan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and
Megan Shalvey (Blauvelt, N.Y.) hold the lone assists on the season for the Knights.
Hope Blanc (Wantagh, N.Y.) leads in ground balls with 14 and caused turnovers with eight. Lindsay also has six draw controls for the Mount.
Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) has started all five in goal for the Knights and has made 44 saves on the season.
The Knights have been outscored 82-25 this season and are being outshot 33.8-12.2 per game.
Last Time Out: The Mount dropped a 20-2 decision against Vassar last Wednesday.
Gilkey and Condron tallied the lone two goals for the Knights. Dolan picked up two groundballs for the Knights while
Brynn Mulcahy (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Alyssa DiMare (Staten Island, N.Y.) each had caused turnover for the Mount.
Meghan Cumming (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) earned a team-high two draw controls and picked up a groundball.
Finkel took the loss in net, making three saves on the night and
Grace Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y.) saw action in net for the fourth time this season.
Scouting the Griffins: Gwynedd Mercy sits at 3-7 (0-1 AEC) this season after a 23-16 loss to Bryn Mawr.
The Griffins have seven players with 10 goals or more while Victoria Braeunle leads the way with 34 goals and a team-high 15 assists. She also leads the team with 71 draw controls, 30 groundballs and 20 caused turnovers.
Victoria Mollitor has 27 goals on the year and Samantha Brown has 24 goals and 31 draw controls. Jill Kane has 16 caused turnovers on the season, good for second on the squad.
Julia Smith has started all 10 games, logging almost 600 minutes in goal and has made 71 saves while allowing 18.07 goals per game.
What's Next: Following Saturday's contest, the Knights begin Skyline Conference play when Old Westbury comes to town on Wednesday evening. First draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Kaplan Field.
