Knights Begin Four Game Road Trip Against Manhattanville, Wellesley

Knights looking for their first win of the season as they hit the road for the first time

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team hits the road for the first time this season as they begin a four game road trip against Manhattanville on Thursday and Wellesley on Saturday. Face-off with the Valiants is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. while first draw with the Blue is set for 1:00 p.m.

At A Glance: The Knights are 0-2 on the young season following two home losses to Castleton and Ramapo.

Courtney Condron (Franklin Square, N.Y.) leads the Mount in goals with five and Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.) is second with two. Anne Dolan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) holds the lone assist on the season for the Knights.

Hope Blanc (Wantagh, N.Y.) leads in ground balls with eight and caused turnovers with six. Liz Halpin (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) leads in draw controls with 11 on the year.

Jackie Finkel has started both games in goal for the Knights and has made 19 saves on the season.

The Knights have been outscored 24-10 in two contests and are outshot 32.5-12.0 per game. 

Last Time Out: The Mount suffered a 16-3 loss at the hands of Ramapo on March 5. Condron led the way with two goals for the Knights in the loss.

Condron and Lindsay were the two goal scorers for the Knights as Halpin paced the Knights with five draw controls. Blanc closing out a strong day with four groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Finkel made nine saves in the loss and freshman Grace Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y.) made a stop and added a groundball in her first action of the season.

Ramapo finished the day with a 36-7 advantage in shots on Sunday and a 26-5 edge in shots on goal. The Roadrunners also finished the day with an edge in groundballs at 26-11 while the Mount held a slim advantage in draw controls at 10-9. The Knights finished 8-for-17 in clearing chances, while Ramapo rapped up at 10-for-15.

Scouting the Valiants: Manhattanville has defeated Skyline opponents Maritime and Old Westbury to begin the season 2-0.
Lara Keenan leads the way for the Valiants with 15 goals on the season, leading the team in points with 16. Melissa O'Mara is second in goals with five and Hailey DeStasio leads in assists with four.

O'Mara has picked up a team-high 11 ground balls and leads in caused turnovers in seven. Keenan also leads in draw controls with 13.

Bella Marchiselli has started both contests in net as she has made 25 saves in the two victories.

The Valiants has outshot opponents 46.5-27.0 and has outscored opponents 29-17 this season while shooting 31.2-percent on the year.

Analyzing Wellesley: The Blue are 1-1 in the young season after losing 21-0 to Tufts last time out.

Dacia Persky leads Wellesley in goals with nine and points with 11 while Eleanor Mallett has scored three goals and leads in assists with five.

Hannah Maisiano and Mallett has each picked up four ground balls while Persky leads in caused turnovers with four. Kat Gallison leads in draw controls with eight and Ellie Chalphin is second with six.

Chloe Tucker has started both games in goal, allowing 22 goals while making 15 saves. She also leads the team in ground balls with five.

What's Next: Following Saturday's contest, the Knights continue their road trip when they head to local foe Vassar on Wednesday afternoon. First draw with the Brewers is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
