Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will swim at the Kaplan Center Pool for the first time this season on Saturday when they welcome Purchase, Old Westbury and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn to Newburgh. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
MSMC Men At A Glance: The Knights enter Saturday's meet at 2-3 overall in dual meets and a perfect 2-0 in contests against league opponents. The Mount is coming off a strong showing at the Diamond City invitational prior to Thanksgiving, placing ninth.
Mount Saint Mary opened the two-day event with a 10
th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.),
Tyler Williams (Middlebury, Conn.),
Philip Crandall (Ravena, N.Y.) and
Davonte Woodton (Fort Montgomery, N.Y.) posted a time of 1:47.29 for the Knights.
Kohlus scored a 13
th place finish for the Mount in the 500-yard freestyle in his first individual event of the day, while Tagliareni scored 16
th place points for the Knights in the 200-yard individual medley. Kohlus posted a time of 5:10.24, while Tagliareni touched out in a time of 2:15.28.
The Knights finished off session one on Saturday with a ninth place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with the team of
Matthew Gallo (Clark, N.J.),
Sam Kenney (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Kohlus and Tagliareni swimming a time of 4:00.08.
Saturday's evening session began with a 10
th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Tagliareni, Woodton, Williams and Crandall started the second session of the day with a time of 2:03.36.
Kohlus scored the team's best individual finish of the day in the evening session, when he took the runner-up spot in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.15 seconds.
Kenney swam to a 16
th place finish for the Mount in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:09.28 and the Knights had three swimmers score in the 100-yard backstroke, the final individual event of the day. Tagliareni led the trio with a 12
th place finish in 1:00.48 and was followed by Gallo in 18
th place and Williams in 19
th place in times of 1:03.53 and 1:04.53.
On Sunday, Kohlus dominated the 200-yard race on Sunday, earning the squad's lone win of the weekend. Kohlus posted a time of 2:02.37 on Sunday, winning the race by nearly three seconds for the Knights.
Kenney scored a 14
th place finish for the Mount in the 200-yard breaststroke, Gallo and freshman
Williams scored for the Knights in the 200-yard backstroke. Kenney swam a time of 2:35.88, while Gallo took 16
th in the backstroke race in 2:17.44 with Williams following in 17
th place, showing a time of 2:20.79.
The Knights finished off the weekend with an eighth place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay event. The team of Kohlus, Gallo, Williams and Tagliareni finished the event with a time of 2:38.29 for the Knights.
MSMC Women At A Glance: The women's squad also enters the weekend at 2-3 overall and 2-0 in Skyline Conference meets and is coming off a 10
th place showing at the Diamond City Invitational.
On Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., The Knights took 10
th place in the two relay events contested in the opening session on Saturday. The team of

Emily Gursky (Oakville, Conn.),
Emily Crowley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and
Daley O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) swam a time of 1:52.63 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, while the quartet of
Shayla McCarroll (Clifton Park, N.Y.),
Taylor Hollis (East Hartford, Conn.), Barber and O'Keefe posted a time of 4:37.73 in the 400-yard medley relay.
Barber added a 17
th place finish for the Knights in the 500-yard freestyle in Saturday's opening session, while McCarroll swam to a 22
nd place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Barber touched out in a time of 5:53.29, while McCarroll completed her race in 2:29.45.
Saturday's second session started with a ninth place finish for the Knights in the 200-yard medley relay. O'Keefe, McCarroll, Barber and Crowley started the day's second session with a time of 2:09.53.
The evening session also featured the Mount's best two individual finishes of the day. Barber came home in eighth place in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:06.51, while
Samantha Gangemi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) followed in 12
th place, showing a time of 1:08.36. McCarroll added the team's second top-10 finish of the day in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:06.12.
O'Keefe scored a 13
th place finish for the Mount in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:21.05 and the Knights had two swimmers score in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke. Crowley and Hollis finished 21
st and 24
th in the breaststroke race in 1:19.90 with Gangemi following McCarroll in the backstroke race in 1:09.11.
On the second day of competition, Barber finished off a strong weekend for the Mount in the 200-yard butterfly, taking the fifth position overall in a time of 2:27.31. O"Keefe also had a strong swim on Sunday for the Knights, placing sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:58.63.
McCarroll led three Knights to score in the 200-yard backstroke, the third session's initial event on Sunday. McCarroll took the 13
th position in a time of 2:23.13 and was followed by O'Keefe in 17
th with a time of 2:25.15 and
Gangemi in the 20
th position in 2:27.09.
Crowley also turned in a strong individual effort on Sunday, touching out in the 22
nd position in the 200-yard breaststroke and showing a time of 2:56.14.
In the lone relay race of the day, Mount Saint Mary posted a 10
th place finish in the 400-yard freestyle event. The team of Gurskey, Dwight, McCarroll and O'Keefe produced a time of 4:09.68.
What's Next: Saturday's meet will close out the Fall semester with the Mount opening the New Year on the road at USMMA on January 14.
