Bronxville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team returned to action on Saturday, posting Skyline Conference wins over Sarah Lawrence and Old Westbury and dropping a non-conference decision to Baruch. The Mount downed Old Westbury 115-22 and Sarah Lawrence 85-70 before falling to Baruch 120-60.
Junior
Shayla McCarroll (Clifton Park, N.Y.) continued her strong start to the season with a pair of runner-up finishes for the Knights on Saturday. She earned second place points in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.36 and the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:14.40. McCarroll also added a third place finish on Saturday in the 200-yard individual medley, touching out in a time of 2:32.78.
Fellow junior
Daley O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) also turned in a second place finish for the Mount on Saturday. She was edged in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:57.48. The winner of the event from Sarah Lawrence touched out just ahead of her with a time of 5:57.35.
Freshman
Kristen Dwight (Newfield, N.J.) turned in a strong swim for the Knights, finishing with a second and a third place finish. Dwight picked up second place points in the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday with a time of 1:03.71 and touched out third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.83 seconds.
Junior
Samantha Gangemi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior
Taylor Hollis (East Hartford, Conn.) each collected third place finishes for the Knights. Gangemi came home third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.63, while Hollis posted a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:21.86.
Saturday's results move Mount Saint Mary to 2-2 overall on the season and to 2-0 in Skyline Conference action. Next up for the Knights is a trip to Wilkes on November 16. Events with the Colonels are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
