Bronxville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team picked up two wins in three decisions on Saturday at Sarah Lawrence, topping Old Westbury 97-50 and the host Gryphons 75-70 before dropping a non-conference result to Baruch 130-51. Senior
Robert Kohlus (Wading River, N.Y.) picked up the Mount's lone win of day.
Kohlus continued his standout career for the Mount with a win and a second place showing on Saturday. He took the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a winning time of 55.50 seconds and earned second place points in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:20.40.
Junior Matt Gallo (Clark, N.J.) and sophomore
Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.Y.) also turned in strong efforts on Saturday. Gallo earned a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:06.94, while Tagliareni picked up a third and fourth place finish. Taglareni took third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.61 and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley, showing a time of 2:17.28.
Sophomore Philp Carndall (Ravena, N.Y.) and senior
Sam Kenney (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) also aided the Mount's strong day on Saturday. Kenney took fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:14.02, while Crandall swam to a fifth place finish in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races with times of 28.85 seconds and 1:04.63.
Saturday's results even the Mount's overall record at 2-2 and pushes it to 2-0 against Skyline Conference rivals. The Knights are back in the pool on November 16 when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take on Wilkes. Events with the Colonels are set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
